Sending 1,000 journals out haphazardly into the world and seeing what comes back — what an intriguing concept. I really enjoyed seeing the final products – every page seemed so personal. Every page felt like it had a story.
I found it interesting how some people grew to feel rather possessive of the journals. More than one individual used the word ‘responsibility’ when discussing the journals, as if they were their pets or children. But the journals were neither of these. They were intended to be shared and passed along.
One of the individuals that was interviewed discussed “the fear of the white page.” I liked what he had to say. People get these journals, with all these blank pages, and they have “this feeling of having to do something, and feeling it’s important.” But he tells us that he’s come to believe that the most important thing to do is something personal.
